California socialite Nicole Richie is reportedly set to join New York's elite with an appearance on hit U.S. show Gossip Girl.

Richie proved her acting skills with a guest starring role as a vicious cheerleader on TV action/comedy Chuck in October.

And now she's said to be eyeing a similarly snooty role on the season finale of the teenage series, slated to air in America later this year.

A source tells the New York Daily News, "Nicole loves Gossip Girl and she wants a really bitchy, juicy role."
