Christensen Avoids Typecasting
Sep 17, 2002 - World Entertainment News Network
Erika Christensen has already discovered a major pitfall of Hollywood life at an early age - you get typecast.
When the 20-year-old actress started out in the movie industry she found her cute looks brought her endless "girl-next-door, sweet cheerleader kind of roles."
Christensen says, "It was really frustrating for me because you don't have to do much acting. Once I crossed the threshold into the dark world, I wanted to stay there for a while."
However, once Erika had made her breakthrough role as a teenage heroin junkie in "Traffic" she found herself saddled with the opposing stereotype, and was offered "every stripper and bad girl" role around.
She says, " I don't want to shut the door and only be thought of as the dark girl."
Erika currently can be seen in "Swimfan" and "The Banger Sisters."
