The producers of hit TV show How I Met Your Mother have declared Britney Spears is welcome to return to the program to follow up her hit cameo role.

The troubled pop star earned critical acclaim for her appearance as a ditzy receptionist in the episode which aired on U.s. TV on Monday March 24th.

Spears also earned the show its highest ever ratings with more than 10 million viewers checking out her guest spot.

And now executive producer Carter Bays insists he would be happy to see the star get involved again.

He says, "We always said, 'You know, if her character pops, we'll bring her back.' I thought she was great. I was very proud of that episode."
