Actress Kim Cattrall insists flattery has got Sex + The City fans exactly what they wanted - a new movie.

Cattrall initially pulled out of a TV movie adaptation of the hit series, in which she played maneater Samantha, but she has since reconsidered her position because show devotees have refused to let the characters die.

In an interview with London radio station Heart, Cattrall says, "I really am so flattered because I feel that people actually do miss the show and the characters."

"I thought that the series really ended so well and to reopen it it would have to be a great script."

"As with any project that you do it really starts and ends with the script, you've got to ask the questions, 'Who are the characters?' 'Where will they go?' 'What will their journey be?' 'Will people be interested?'"

The Sex + The City movie will start shooting in New York in September with the show's leading ladies, Cattrall, & Sarah.

Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprising their roles.
