Actor Shia Labeouf's hit new thriller Disturbia has kept Sir Anthony Hopkins off the top of the US box office chart in a terrible week at the cinema in America.

Disturbia made just $13.5 million in its second weekend to score a second week at number one, while Hopkins' new thriller Fracture debuted at number two with just $11.2 million.

Figure-skating comedy Blades of Glory, a former number one, fell to number three in its fourth weekend, but managed to cross the $100 million mark.

And horror film Vacancy, starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson, debuted at four with a lowly $7.6 million.

One of the only bright spots on the new box office chart was British comedy Hot Fuzz, which debuted at number six with a $5.8 million opening-weekend take - despite appearing in only a third of the number of cinemas where fellow new releases Fracture and Vacancy played.

And Meg Ryan still appears to be box office poison in the US her new film with Adam Brody, In the Land of Women, debuted at number eight on the new countdown with a poor $4.9 million take.

Meanwhile, war epic 300 slipped out of the top 10 after seven weeks but has taken its tally to over $200 million in the US alone.
