Rose McGowan Rules "Planet Terror"
Apr 4, 2007 - Lynn Barker
In the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature B-movie festorama Grindhouse, gorgeous, dark-haired Rose McGowan, lately of "Charmed" fame on TV, stars as former Go Go dancer Cherry Darling who walks out on her job, hooks up with her old boyfriend and loses a leg to flesh-eating plague victims only to get it replaced by a working machine gun! Can we say, 'only in a Hollywood B-movie send up'?

With Planet Terror, the Rodriguez half of this wild double feature, the Texan uber-hyphenate has chosen one of his fave genres, the zombie film and added his own quirky characters. The poster, featuring Rose with her locked and loaded limb, has become an internet icon and, when we spoke with the actress recently in L.A., she let us know all about the special effects, her stunts and the personal discomfort required to bring Cherry and her dangerous leg to life.
Rose also has a smaller part in Death Proof, the Tarantino half of the double freakfest, and told us what it was like working for each of the two celebrated directors, watching double features, bookending her horror experiences on Scream and now Planet Terror and what's up next for her. Picture the actress (who actually has two lovely legs) in a sweet and proper blue sundress with white piping, a real contrast to the red bustier and short leather skirt her character in "Planet" wears.
