It Was A Great Globes For Dreamgirls, British Stars And Babel

Dame Helen Mirren became The Queen of Hollywood last night when her royal roles earned her two big acting prizes at the 64th Golden Globe Awards.

The British actress claimed the night's Best Actress (Drama) honour for her role as Elizabeth II in The Queen, and the Best Actress In A Mini-series for her royal portrayal in Elizabeth I.

It was a great Globes for Dreamgirls, British stars and Babel.

Mirren's honour was one of seven for Brits like Mirren's Elizabeth I co-star Jeremy Irons, Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Hugh Laurie and The Queen screenwriter Peter Morgan.

Dreamgirls, like Elizabeth I, claimed three awards - Best Picture (Comedy/Drama) and both Supporting Actor (Eddie Murphy) and Actress (Jennifer Hudson) prizes.

Hard-hitting international drama Babel picked up only one of its seven nominations, but that was for Best Picture (Drama).

Best Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) - Dreamgirls

Best Performance by an Actress in A Motion Picture (Drama) - Helen Mirren (The Queen)

Best Performance by an Actor in A Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) - Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan)
