Okay, if you are a young teen, saw this TV movie on the Disney Channel and fell in love with it, you'll be buying the DVD anyway but we thought we'd give you the details:

High School Musical

"Contemporary musical comedy" High School Musical is about hot high school basketball star Troy (Zac Efron) who is hiding his love of music and singing from his teammates. On vacation, he meets shy, bright girl Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) and they karaoke like crazy. When she turns up as a new student at his school, Troy is hot to try out with her for the next high school musical production but the various cliques at the school do everything they can to prevent their two friends from crossing over and disturbing the "status quo".

Also determined to stop our romantic duo from getting the leads in the production are twin star performers Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and her bro Ryan (Lucas Grabeel).

Video: The DVD seems to hold at least the broadcast quality of the original TV movie. Colors are bright and edges are crisp enough.

Audio: I had no trouble hearing the lyrics to the songs. Musical balance seems fine. Dialogue comes through clearly. Not exactly a wrap-around, big bass listening fest but the well-loved tunes come out just fine.
