The movie version of US TV sensation 24 won't be made in real-time, according to the show's star Kiefer Sutherland.

The 39-year-old actor reveals producers have decided to change the show's format when it hits the big screen - to allow lead character Jack Bauer to travel across Europe.

He says, "The film will be very different. It will not be real-time. The two-hour movie will be the representation of a 24 hour day."

"By virtue of that it allows us to break with the format so we can actually travel."
