Mr. and Mrs. Smith to Become TV Show
Jan 27, 2006 - United Press International
"Mr. & Mrs. Smith" director Doug Liman is bringing the film to TV, it was reported Thursday.
The Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie action-comedy will most likely wind up on NBC, which has a "first look deal" with Liman and writer Simon Kinberg, the director told US Weekly.
"Simon had originally conceived 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' as a TV show not as a movie,"
Liman said.
He said a nationwide search will be launched to fill the roles played by Pitt and Jolie -- who began a romance together while working on the movie.
"Mr. & Mrs. Smith" -- about a married couple who are surprised to learn they both lead secret lives as paid assassins -- grossed $186 million worldwide.
