Ah, the sequel. Notorious for stinking, the sequel usually gets a bad name, but Len Wiseman's Underworld: Evolution has risen above. Could this be the next cult classic?

The story picks up where the first one left off and, let me tell you, it is nearly impossible to understand if you haven't watched the first "Underworld" about seven times. In preparation for this review, I was lucky enough to have a knowledgeable friend to help me comprehend the original. To be frank, I was dreading watching Underworld. I'm not exactly a fan of the whole Goth action scene, but, after an hour and a half of awesome fight scenes, explosions and even better plot twists, I fell in love.

Underworld: Evolution is equally lovable. This time, the story attempts to explain the lineage of the vampires, the lycans and our dearest Selene (Kate Beckinsale) who, still jumping around in skin- tight leather, joins Michael (Scott Speedman), the lycan hybrid, to discover Selene's connection to Sophie's necklace. Quite a few new elements are introduced to keep plot lines racing along.
