Underwater superhero Aquaman is set for his own TV series after sending ratings on US Superman series Smallville soaring during a recent cameo.

Bosses at Warner Brothers, the studio behind cult show Smallville, are reportedly hurrying through a new series featuring Aquaman, starring former model Alan Ritchson, according to fansite AquamanTV.com.

Ritchson played the amphibian superhero on a recent episode of Smallville, giving the show one of its highest ratings.
