Casey and Cappie on "Greek"
With the new season of "Greek" starting on ABC Family on August 31st and the DVD for "Greek: Chapter Three" hitting shelves on the 18th, we had to sit down with Spencer Grammer and Scott Michael Foster to learn about DVD details and what's in store for the fans in this new season? Will it be Casey and Cappie coupletime and what kinds of "Punk'd" pranks do the actors play on each other? What do Spencer and Scott wish the showrunners would let their characters do on the show? Hint: Scott wishes something would explode!
TeenTelevsion: Okay I'm confused. The new DVD is subtitled "Chapter Three" but doesn't season three start August 31st?
Spencer: It's confusing.
Scott: Okay, let me break this down for you. Chapter one is the first ten episodes, chapter two is the second, I think fourteen. Well, basically, each season is two chapters.
Spencer: It's like 1A and 1B.
Scott: So the DVD would be the first ten episodes of season two.
TeenTelevision: Okay. Look at the episode titles on the DVD here (I show them). Which was your fave and why?
Scott: 'Three's a Crowd' because I was dressed up like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
Spencer: 'Formally Yours' was a fun episode for me with Michael Rady and we were boyfriend/girlfriend and we went to the thing and he got the horse and carriage. I liked that one.
TeenTelevision: So is the season starting August 31st picking right up where you ended season two? Are you guys' characters getting together or not?
Spencer: We can't tell you but we pick right up where it ended. It's also cool to see two characters want to get together and they never do.
Scott: But fun stuff happens with that storyline. We can say it's a cliffhanger. They're going to keep us apart until fans stop watching the show. It's like 'Lost'. 'Okay, I have no information. I'm gonna stop watching it but.... wait, wait! It's an alternate dimension'!
Spencer: (looking at him like he's nuts) Yeah, right. We just give you a little bit.
TeenTelevision: 'Isn't it Bromantic' is where you are a third wheel on a date, Spencer. Have you ever done that? Have you ever been the third person on a date?
Spencer: Oh sure. That was a really fun episode for me. I'm the oldest of many younger siblings. The oldest sibling after me is seventeen so we haven't had very many interactive dates so far. One of my sisters dates and one doesn't.
Scott: But you would chaperone? One of your sisters is seventeen and she doesn't date?
Spencer: She likes school. She's a straight "A" student (we all discuss how you can make straight "A"s and still date). But I was single for a long time in high school and college so when I saw Amelie in the theater, it was me and two other couples and it was all about love and they were making out and I was like 'great. Oooo, so much fun. Let's go it again.' But they're all broken up now.
TeenTelevision; Are you going to have more famous guest stars this coming season?
Scott: Alan Ruck is coming back with or without goatee. He'll change it up.
TeenTelevision: Who would be your dream guest star?
Scott: Morgan Freeman.
Spencer: Or Clive Owen plays my hot professor. Ooooo.
TeenTelevision: What do each of you wish the writers would let your character do?
Spencer: I don't particularly like lying in real life or as a character and when I get a script like that, I'm always like 'could it be an accidental lie? Was it a lie of omission?' I sometimes wish I could dress a little more hip. I'm not much into floral but that's nothing to do with the writing.
Scott: I wish they had the budget to have me run out the front door of a house and it blows up behind me. Something blows up and I jump.
TeenTelevision: You want to be action dude?
Scott: Comedian action dude.
T
eenTelevision: Like Will Ferrell in Land of the Lost?
Scott: I'm not sure I want a dinosaur chasing me. I just want to jump away from a blowing up house.
Spenser: Ooookay.
TeenTelevision: You did a twenty questions special feature for the DVD. Do you remember doing commentary over episodes?
Spenser: Yeah. We did one twenty question thing with Michael Rady and Amber Stevens. They asked us questions about every single episode. We did some separately. We answered some questions about what our prom was like or what the worst thing we did in high school was.
Scott: We did like four of them I think. But there is a gag reel. There are bloopers on there.
TeenTelevision: Who is the troublemaker on set and who is the disciplinarian?
Scott: P.J. (Paul James) is the troublemaker.
Spencer: I guess I always yell at people to get it together.
Scott: Jacob and Clark are off messing around.
Spencer: I guess I'm the disciplinarian.
TeenTelevsion: Where do you get that from?
Spencer: Because I'm the oldest (in my family). I'm like 'are you all done? Are you ready? Can we rehearse now?'
TeenTelevision: So who has had an on-set prank played on them?
Scott: They took all the light bulbs out of my dressing room.
Spencer: That was good! Or they'll go in and rearrange all of your furniture and put it upside down.
Scott: Or take all your furniture and put it in your bathroom and lock it.
Spencer: We played a joke on P.J. saying you had been arrested. He called for bail and stuff.
Scott: He really got me back on that one. The first night our show aired Paul went on my myspace and put my real phone number up. We're on the lot watching the show and my phone was on silent. We get done and it was like 'you have seventy-six messages. Voicemail is full'. I'm like 'oh my God!' So I had to change my number. I was pissed. (Spencer is laughing hysterically).
TeenTelevision: Changing the subject totally, what kinds of music are you two into?
Spencer: I listen to old stuff. I like Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin and I love The Beatles.
Scott: I have a new band I like. It's called The Action Design and they're local to L.A. but they just went on a tour with my friend's band called The Dollyrots. They had a great Arizona, New Mexico, Texas tour.
Spencer: The Dollyrots were on our show, first season.
TeenTelevision: What's their sound like?
Scott: It's rock. It's a female lead vocalist. They're like the Ya Ya's and Metric. They're really good.
TeenTelevision: Wrapping up, what can you tell fans about the upcoming season?
Spencer: You're gonna see more Casey/Cappie stuff and you'll see Casey get more into her sorority life.
Scott: I can't say much. Well, everything changes!
